Hello. Welcome to Small Distractions. This is where my writing lives. It’s mainly about books and bands, and some things in between.
Small Distractions started as a project about reading, and not reading - that messy space where people often feel inadequate. I’m interested in why we read and how we feel about it. This transformed into me asking people in bands about their relationship with reading - how it’s changed over time, and how it’s informed their music.
This project will probably keep changing, but for now, that’s where we’re at. I talk to people about how their relationship with reading ebbs and flows, how it makes us feel, and what function it serves. For me, it has always been, primarily, a small distraction
